An award-winning screenwriter and experienced stage director of over 20 original productions, Heidi Lauren Duke specializes in juicy adaptations, often featuring intelligent and underestimated women who manage to make something beautiful from the shit sandwich they’ve been handed.
Trained as an opera singer and Shakespearean actor, Ms. Duke’s Off-Broadway production of RICHARD III was hailed by the New York Times as “bold and beautiful.” Her short film THE HEIRESS, featuring Lilli Kay (YELLOWSTONE) about the fearless but flawed girlboss Christina Onassis, has screened internationally and won three awards at Monaco International Film Festival.
Ms. Duke studied directing at University of Cincinnati (CCM) and also holds a degree from Vanderbilt University, where she was awarded her school’s highest honor, the Presser Award. She has developed work with multiple best-selling authors to bring their stories to life on screen.
Heidi Lauren’s scripts have won the Female Film Festival Competition and have placed in others such as Austin Film Festival, Humanitas Foundation, Cinestory, and the Sundance Festival’s Alfred Sloane Fellowship.
Her many other adventures include navigating real estate in post-911 Brooklyn, singing in wedding bands across the US, often dressed as Patsy Cline, and during the pandemic she revitalized a 136-acre estate in Vermont as CEO and owner of Highland Lodge.
Heidi Lauren splits her time between Vermont and Los Angeles, and coaches up and coming women writers and producers.
Ms. Duke is represented by Ettore Botta of SPACEWOW Entertainment and Tom Greenberg at Del Shaw Moonves.
